What you can expect from the Best of the Kruger Park Luxury Safari

Day 1 - Welcome to the Kruger

Your Luxury Safari Adventure begins when you board the airplane on the O.R. Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg). The flight to Hoedspruit Airport takes roughly one hour. Your Africa VIP Tours tour guide will be waiting for you and transport you to the nearby  Phelwana Game Lodge. A Luxury Tent (or Bush Villa) with own private veranda and splash pool will be your accommodation for the next four nights.

After checking in and indulging in a delicious lunch, your ranger will briefly discuss indicators for identifying wildlife in the bush. Then you will enjoy an adventurous guided bush walk on the Reserve. You will be pleasantly surprised with the new smells, sights and sounds with every step you take in the African bush. Look out for Zebra, Giraffe, Buffalo, Nyala, Wildebeest, Impala and many more.

Soon after we arrive back at the lodge, you will be sitting on the deck with a cocktail in your hand. You will admire an African sunset with the glorious Drakensberg Mountains in the background. Then a delicious dinner will be served. After dinner your guide will point out the Southern Cross star constellation while you are relaxing with a glass of exceptional South African wine at an inviting bushveld campfire.

Day 2 - A Tale of Two Safari’s on One day

Before dawn we will depart for a special Sunrise Game Drive in the magical Manyeleti Private Game Reserve. This Private Game Lodge forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park and offers the opportunity for exceptional game watching! The reserve is exclusive and only qualified game rangers in 4×4 vehicles may drive here. You will experience the thrill to go off-road and get a chance to take quality close-up photos of the numerous wildlife species.

We will return to the lodge for an excellent lunch and then you will have a little leisure time and a chance to recharge your camera. At 15h00 the afternoon Safari Game Drive will depart. You are in Big 5 country so be prepared to see them all and expect the unexpected! We will experience another golden African bushveld sunset as we drive back to the lodge.

You will return back to the lodge just in time to freshen up before a divine dinner will be served!

Day 3 - The Spectacular Panorama Route

Maybe you have heard that some people describe South Africa as the world-in-one-country. Today is the day we will witness this. You will depart on a breathtaking journey through the scenic Panorama Route after breakfast.

The Panorama route is a remarkable winding road on top of the glorious Drakensberg Mountains – the largest mountain range in South Africa.

The highlights for today will include:

God’s Window
God’s Window is a very high viewpoint where you will stand on a cliff with a surreal outlook on the Lowveld. Your view will be so far and wide that it will seem if you are looking into forever. While you are enjoying this scenic splendor, you will realize why it is so-called: God’s Window!

Lisbon Waterfalls and the Berlin Waterfalls
The Lisbon Waterfalls and the Berlin Waterfalls are two gorgeous falls. The Lisbon falls are 94 meters high and it is therefore the highest waterfalls in Mpumalanga, South Africa. At the Berlin Waterfalls the water forces over an 80-meter cliff in the shape of a candle and falls into a deep, dark pool below.

The Berlin falls and the Lisbon waterfalls both got their names from immigrant miners who came from Europe during the gold rush. They named each waterfall they found after their home towns or other places from their native countries.

The Blyde River Canyon
The Blyde River Canyon (officially the Motlatse Canyon) is the biggest all-green canyon on the planet due to its lush subtropical foliage. It is the second largest canyon in Africa after the Fish River canyon and it is the third largest canyon on earth. The Blyde River Canyon is 1,383 meters (4,537ft) deep.

Bourke’s Luck Potholes
Two rivers meet at the spectacular sight of the Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the force of the water eroded the golden stone to form deep, round potholes which can be viewed from specially built walkways. A local prospector, Bernard Thomas Bourke, predicted the presence of gold here but found none himself. The potholes were named after him.

You will enjoy lunch at the well-known Harrie’s Pancakes in the picturesque little town of Graskop. Then you will head back to your lodge so that you can have a sundowner before ending the day with another heavenly dinner.

Day 4 - Full day Safari in the Kruger Park

Day Four starts at the crack of dawn as we depart early for a Full Day Safari in the acclaimed Kruger National Park. You can expect the unexpected today in this gigantic two million-hectare wildlife haven – roughly the same size as Wales. With your professional private guide driving you around in a deluxe air-conditioned closed vehicle you can relax and enjoy the day inside the Kruger National Park.

You will be looking out for the Big Five today: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. Furthermore, you can expect to see countless Impala, Kudu, African Wild Dogs, Giraffes and other antelopes. All kinds of game are roaming around here freely in their natural habitat. Our guides are professionals in pointing out the particulars of mammals, birds, trees, insects and all facets of the fauna and flora. Breakfast and lunch will be enjoyed at any of many bush camp restaurants.

At dusk we will leave the Kruger National Park. You will be returning to your lodge to indulge in world famous South African wines while pondering about the day’s remarkable sightings. Then your last night’s delightful African bush dinner will be served at the luxury lodge.

Day 5 - Flying Back to Johannesburg

After breakfast you will have the opportunity to visit the nearby Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. This Endangered Species Centre concentrate on conservation; eco-tourism; the release and reintegration of captive-bred Cheetahs back into the wilderness and the treatment of sick and harmed wild animals including orphaned Rhino that are brought to the centre. This Centre has also established itself as one of the top private research and breeding facilities for endangered indigenous species in South Africa. You can view each inhabitant in his or her own special enclosure that simulates his or her natural habitat. Sometimes guests can even watch the feeding of rare African Vultures at the Vulture Restaurant.

After the visit at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, you will be on your way to the Hoedspruit airport. While you are flying back to the OR Tambo airport (Johannesburg), you will be reminiscing about the incredible Luxury African Safari you had during the last 5 days!

As Ernst Hemingway said: ‘I never knew of a morning in Africa when I woke up that I was not happy.’
